Punkenstein Jewelry

Christine Fedor

About the artist: I create one of a kind wearable art, made from flame, metal, and solder set against recycled vintage jewelry and parts. Steampunk in nature, Punkenstein Jewelry's theme is combining the old into the new. I spend my off time hunting for vintage jewelry in thrift stores and estate sales to use within the creation of my pieces. Brass and antiqued silver findings are from vintage molds from the early part of the 20th century. I try to recycle everything, taking apart broken jewelry, using what I can within my work. Clock parts, antique keys, and antique optical loupes are a common theme within my pieces, lending towards a victorian or edwardian steampunk style. I use metal solder and a blowtorch to combine it all, often leaving traces of oxidation in the metals and solder present to further give that of an antiqued vintage feel.
